Balance issues within the body

Our bodies are constantly aiming to balance mobility and flexibility with the need for stability so we can get on with our lives smoothly. When damage occurs, our soft tissues respond and work to restore this ‘equation’. This damage is not always through injury but can be caused by us sitting, standing, or moving in the same way repeatedly.

Over time, this ends up placing a strain on the body with less freedom of movement and often ends in pain. Our internal organs (often referred to as viscera) can also suffer due to illness, infections, diet, environmental toxins, repetitious movements, and emotional stress. Just as the rest of our body has an inflammatory response to damage so do the organs. Inflammation to any part of our bodies stops free movement, wherever it is happening, affecting any nerves or blood vessels involved.

Our bodies are very clever and rather than damage these areas further, they adapt, and we start to move differently. (As a rather silly example, can you remember what happened last time you had an upset stomach, or you stubbed your toe? ).

This can result in musculoskeletal pain, generally not feeling well (for example, reduced blood supply to the gut can affect food absorption and breakdown) and a change in your normal daily routine.

STRUCTURAL BODYWORK

Corrects imbalances in the body with the resulting benefits of improved freedom of movement, elimination of pain and correction of poor posture, that if left unchecked has a strong possibility of causing pain and injury further on in life.

VISCERAL MANIPULATION

Is a pain-free, gentle technique applied with the aim of aiding internal organs to be able to self-correct. This can improve digestion, resolve constipation, address swelling in the ankles, eliminate pain in other areas of our bodies that are compensating and enable us to get on with our lives normally.

Some conditions that can be treated by the above are:

  • Groin pain
  • Neck pain
  • Hip/Knee pain
  • Constipation
  • Referred pain into the legs
  • Breathing problems
  • Decreased balance
  • Shoulder pain and pain into the rest of the arm
  • Low back pain
  • Foot pain, including plantar fascitis
  • Complications post abdominal surgery

Gentle & pain free

I am so grateful to Vicky for her gentle and pain free manipulation of my abdomen that encouraged my system back into action after a long period of pain and constipation. I wholeheartedly recommend her.
